Tourism offers a new and rich source of income for countries in the Middle Eastern region. The exotic appeal of countries such as Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey is attracting a groiwng number of tourists. Previously, these conservative oil states in the Gulf were reluctant to welcome visitors, particularly business travelers brought there by the oil boom. The revenue-generating aspect of tourism, however, have prompted these oil-rich states to open their doors to popular tourism.

Tourism takes over.

The countries of the Middle East region offer vast scope and astonishing diversity to both tourist and business traveller. Countries such as Egypt, Cyprus and Jordan have for much of this century attracted discerning visitors to their shores. At the turn of the century intrepid travellers set out in search of new and fascinating experiences such as those to be found at the historic rose-coloured city of Petra or in the tombs of the ancient pharaohs of Egypt at the Valley of the Kings near Luxor.
