Summary
One of the signs of getting older is the start of revering the past. Even within such a young industry as e-learning, this phenomenon has started to surface over the issue of instructional design (ID). The real dilemma facing ID in the UK is that it was taught formally in the 1980s -- when many of today's top instructional designers developed their skills through Project author. Since Project Author happened over 20 years ago, its students are now in the second half of their working careers. This poses a growing problem for e-learning developers today. There may be time to reverse this trend if a UK university was public-spirited enough to take a lead in running an ID course .
