Existing telecommunication systems in the Occupied Territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip remain poor, but efforts are already being made to improve their links with other countries. A US consulting firm has already been hired to establish a telecommunications firm in the Occupied Territories, which will be known as the Palestine Telecommunications Company, to serve Palestinians in the region. Meanwhile, the West Bank remains under the monopoly of Israeli state-owned firm Bezeq.
