Summary
Industry workforces today need new learning paradigms, technologies and standards to help them develop their skills and competencies more effectively and efficiently and support their jobs at the pace made necessary by today's global challenges. Many different types of organizations are not only adhering to the international standards relating to the LMS/LCMS but are involved in driving standards, co-writing and developing them in European Union R&D projects. The the Aviation Industry CBT (Computer-Based Training) Committee (AICC) develops technical guidelines. AICC recommendations are fairly general and, for this reason, are widely used outside of the aviation training industry. Advanced Distributed Learning now uses a structured, adaptive, collaborative effort between the public and private sectors to develop standards, tools and learning content. Without these internationally accepted standards, developers would not have been able to make a number of breakthroughs in the application of learning technologies in recent months.
