Splintering Iraq's insurgency.

ON 27 MARCH, Harith Dhahir Al Dari, a top leader of the 1920 Revolutionary Brigades, one of the largest Sunni insurgent groups, was assassinated in an Al Qaeda bombing west of Baghdad. He was killed because he sought to align the group with the Al Anbar Salvation Council, a coalition of Sunni tribes in the Al Anbar province, storm centre of the insurgency, which has been negotiating with the government of Prime Minister Nour Al Maliki.
