Alistair Lomax, CEO of UNIAID, whose mission is to help students cope with the financial hurdles to higher education, said that there is a whole generation affected by the fear of a burden of cost which, for the first time in England, would be upon their shoulders. Essentially the problem was not so much a financial issue as an awareness issue -- UNIAID needed a means of raising awareness of available student financial support. E-learning was obviously an option to consider but getting people to take non-mandatory e-learning programs has always been a challenge. UNIAID teamed up with a range of development partners including Epic, Kerb and Rubbaglove, and this partnership must have done something right. The program was originally only targeted to reach 25,000 people, however one component of the solution alone engaged over 2.3 million learners, and got them to learn for an average of nine minutes.
