Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso has made limited progress towards increasing the rate of economic growth and reducing its fiscal deficit despite having adopted a structural-adjustment program in 1991. To remedy the problem, the government agreed to the devaluation of the CFA franc on Jan. 12, 1994. The government has likewise adopted a comprehensive set of supporting measures to tighten demand management and to strengthen the supply response of the economy.
