Profiting from poverty: ... how Western companies and consultants exploit Africa.

The manipulative operations of international financial institutions have opened up African economies to exploitation by rich multinational corporations and consultancy firms who are maximising their profits from Africa's misery. As Regina Jere-Malanda reports, Western corporate power in Africa is a monster with a thousand stomachs, insatiable for profit, profit, profit. For Africans, this is a hard stuff to swallow--but corporate greed knows no limits.

The agonising reality of what the IMF, World Bank and WTO have done to Africa through their adverse economic and trade policies is, sadly, battered news. What is not is the story of how these institutions have given their blessing to multinational corporations to roam Africa willy-nilly, and trump African governments and populations, all for the sake of corporate profits. Some of these corporations are not only gaining increasing influence on African governments, but enjoy larger annual incomes than the countries they exploit.
