Nigerian Oil Min. Dan Etete scolded the chief executives of different oil companies for their inability to improve the oil sector of the country. He blamed them for the lack of accountability and transparency in the industry, the employment of expatriates, the rising cost of oil production, the ineffectiveness of technological transfer, massive tax evasions and the degradation of the environment. He also chastised the executives for failing to ensure that the Nigerian government and citizenry benefit from joint ventures for petroleum exploration and production.
