Power struggle in Algeria

The resignation of Redha Malek and the speedy election into office of Mokda Sifi was a ploy used by the Algerian army's to tighten its hold on the country. Sifi will be the army's next scapegoat for all of Algeria's political and economic problems. However, the leadership is slowly deteriorating due to ideological differences. Furthermore, the army is facing issues on Islamic fundamentalism and the Berbers. The country is also plagued with problems in violence, dropping currency value and increasing government opposition.
