Art collection found in Egypt

Egyptian art authorities found a long forgotten collection of European artworks in the storehouses of the Gezira Museum. The artworks were acquired in the 1920s as part of the Egyptian government's intent to form a significant art collection. The paintings, which include works by Degas, Sisley, Rodin, Courbet and Monet, have suffered from their long storage. A few were in a good condition and were exhibited in Paris, France. The works will be permanently housed in the Gezira Museum when it finishes renovations in the year 2000.
