Mainstream A f r i c a n - Americans doing stand-up comedy is funny stuff. The only issue I have is the swearing. It's too much and nowadays the more I watch it, the more it grates on me. That's one of the reasons why I've taken an interest in 'clean comedy'. It's something you can watch with your granny without having to fast forward the rude bits.

'The type of material we do is clean, quality humour that doesn't leave you cringing (because of the swearing),' explained [Alan Charles]. 'It's about taking the audience on a journey and telling stories about everyday experiences. Some comics may bring God into it because being a Christian is part of their experience. For a long time, Christianity was as a serious thing but that's now changing. Christians can have a laugh. Laughter is of God.'
