Recent events in 1996 has rendered the peace accord between Israel and Palestine and has put great pressure on both leadership. However, the greater demand is on Yasser Arafat, who has so far have matched Israeli moves against Islamic extremists, even going into dangerous grounds. The situation has become more difficult with the murder of Yehya Ayash by the Shin Bet.
