Israeli and Palestinian extremists and the future of the peace accord

Recent events in 1996 has rendered the peace accord between Israel and Palestine and has put great pressure on both leadership. However, the greater demand is on Yasser Arafat, who has so far have matched Israeli moves against Islamic extremists, even going into dangerous grounds. The situation has become more difficult with the murder of Yehya Ayash by the Shin Bet. The retaliation by his self-claimed students countermanded orders by Hamas leaders and has wrought greater destruction than expected by the Shin Bet.
