It is pretty universally accepted that e-learning can produce a consistency of learning and development approach which large organizations want and have found elusive using other methods. Global businesses with staff based anywhere and everywhere have embraced e-learning to gain some benefits around rapid, consistent and global implementation. In recent times the recognition that tools now exist which are not only capable of integration with the chosen Learning Management System, but reduce the reliance on external providers of learning materials means that many large corporates have been quick to embrace authoring tools. What is more, the creation of these materials can now entirely by-pass the training and HR department. Other forms of information exchange have also been embraced by large organizations. Web 2.0 and the collaborative tools of wikis and blogs have also been set up with variable levels of success.
