Does the public sector have something to teach the private sector when it comes to making online learning business as usual? This might seem a strange question in the aftermath of some very public downfalls of some public sector e-learning initiatives but it is important not to throw the baby out with the bathwater - there are some excellent examples of e-learning leadership in this sector. As a winner of a prestigious E-Government National Award for Excellence, the National College for School Leadership's (NCSL) Learning Gateway is one such example. Providing an online learning environment for school leaders in England, the Learning Gateway has been recognised, not only for its vision in reaching the teaching profession, but for its achievements in realising that vision.
