Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Mauritania are set to reap huge benefits over the next four decades if a visionary plan to produce solar energy in the Sahara takes off. The plan, which involves investments of more than $570bn, aims to provide Europe with 15% of its total energy needs by 2050.
