Anita Jain's Marrying Anita: A Quest for Love in the New India, a true life account of an Indian American girl's search for a husband in India, was hugely enjoyable, moving and funny, as was The Making of Mr Hai's Daughter: Becoming British, by Yasmin Hai, which tells of the author's experience of growing up in Wembley.
Patrick French's biography of the Nobel Prize winning author, V S Naipaul, The World Is What It Is, was brutally honest.
