Child labor in Egypt

Economic necessity is forcing even the Ministry of Agriculture of Egypt to overlook regulations restricting child employment in the country. The Ministry owns about 10% of Egypt's cotton fields. Eight out ten children who work are employed in agriculture or related areas. The Egyptian Center for Social Research has reported that nine out of 100, or 1.5 million children under the age of 14, are used as labor in Egypt. These children comprise 7% of the country's total labor force.
